Synopsis/Details
PATCHES’ PERIL is an original teen drama script set in the 1960s.
A teenage girl, Wendy Green, runs away from her prostitute mother, Hazel so she herself won’t work on the street.
She moves into her aunt & uncle’s house, the Turners with three cousins and shares cousin Sandy’s room.
At her new high school, she meets two neighborhood teen boys, Hobo and Pickles and gets the nickname Patches from her patched-up jeans.
Sandy gets Patches a part-time job as a waitress to help with her stay at the Turners and raise money to rescue her sisters.
Patches mother finds out where she is and sends two johns to get her back with the warning if she won’t work on the streets, her mother will send her younger sisters to do it.
Sandy introduces Patches to Hobo, an athletic jock and a romance develops.
The aunt and uncle can’t take the sisters because there’s no room and lack of money.
Hazel tells Patches that her sisters will work on the street in September and not go to school.
Sandy wants her summer earnings for back-to-school clothes; Hobo wants his summer earnings for a ring for Patches; Pickles wants his summer earnings for new cowboy boots.
Patches and Hobo breakup because all she thinks about is her sisters and not him, according to Sandy’s lies.
Patches loses her job because Sandy blames her for missing cash from the till.
The Turners’ car breaks down and there’s no way to rescue the sisters.
Unexpectedly, Hazel and the two johns show up to take Patches to Hogtown.
Seeing the severity of the problem, Hobo, Pickles, Sandy and Patches give their money to the Turners to repair their car for the rescue.
The aunt and uncle go to family court to gain custody of their three nieces after their mother disappears.
In September, a more confident Patches and Sandy take the two younger sisters to their new school.
