Synopsis/Details:

They spike up from the remote landscape of Yorkshire's high moorland. A circle of standing stones rich in sinister legend.

The Skuggibarn circle dates back to when six vicious boys terrorised the villages below. They blinded livestock, set fire to barns and chicken houses and fouled the drinking water. They attacked villagers with sticks and stones and invaded their homes at night.

Some say these malevolent brats were changelings. Children once switched with human babies by faeries or demons, turned feral. Finally - as punishment - they were turned into stone parodies of human children. The Skuggibarn Stones.

Connor's new folklorist foster father is taking him hiking in the hills to see the stone circle. The troubled 12-year-old has already run away from two foster homes. Soon, he'll need to run faster than ever before.
