Synopsis/Details
Sidney has been angry as long as she can remember. Her real Dad was a deadbeat, so her Mom left him when Sidney was 7, married an orthodontist, had a baby boy, and got a better life in the suburbs. Sidney was there too, but never quite felt like she fit in.
She learns to not depend on anyone, but still can't break the habit of seeking love and affirmation in the wrong places. When her stepdad dies, Sidney is essentially homeless - she has no car, no place to stay, and no acting jobs for a nobody in their 30s.
Her Mom insists she come to the funeral and even enlists her baby brother, Michael - now in his 20s, struggling with problems of his own - to pick up Sidney and drive her from California to Tennessee. Through the long journey (and endless rest stops and corn nuts), they learn the pain they've both been hiding can't be outrun - but what's underneath is more rewarding than anything else they've ever chased.
