Synopsis/Details
Tony loves soccer and trains hard at a local soccer academy. He dreams of becoming a professional player and gaining recognition. Unfortunately, Tony lacks talent compared to his teammates and always sitting on the subs bench during the games. In the final match of the season, he finally gets his chance, but fails to make an impact. Despite his team winning the game miraculously, Tony feels unsatisfied, because he didn't contribute much to the victory and feels he didn't deserve it. His girlfriend, Erica, is not providing him the support he needs. At home, his father puts pressure on Tony and advises him to focus on his future. Tony doesn't want to make a responsible decision and tries to distract himself with gambling. All of his emotional stress is released during training. Tony spars with his childhood friend, Clyde, who has talent, unlike Tony, but doesn't value it. And Tony envies him. In the last match, one of the team's leading players sustains a serious injury, leaving the coach feeling guilty. He is concerned for Tony's safety and decides to remove him from training. However, Tony disregards the ban and continues to train even harder. In pursuit of his goal, he ends his relationship with Erica and experiences conflicts with his father. Under the coach's influence, the training sessions gradually become a source of suffering for Tony. He succumbs to the temptations of gambling, losing control and finding himself in trouble. A stranger named Mark comes to his rescue, averting future problems. Mark recognizes Tony's unique abilities and advises him to forge his own path despite failures. He also encourages him to await the opportunity that will surely come. Tony disregards advice and contemplates quitting football. However, his mother stands by his side, providing support and encouraging him not to give up in the face of adversity. During the next training session, a change occurs within the team - Mark becomes the new head coach of the club. Under Mark's guidance, the players are introduced to a new philosophy of the game, emphasizing intelligence and self-control. This change shift empowers Tony, enabling him to make progress on the field. But his newfound confidence leads him to overestimate his abilities. Tragically, his ambition results in an injury that sidelines him from the game. During his recovery, Tony realizes that his success depends not only on constant training. He takes matters into his own hands and resolves his problems. He quits gambling, reconciles with Erica, and compromises with his father. In return, Tony gains the necessary support and self-assurance. He showcases exceptional gameplay during training and prevails over Clyde in their rivalry. He also comes to the realization that the talent and luck he once yearned for are no longer needed. The next season doesn't bring a championship victory for the team, but they make progress. Tony plays a crucial role in the game, although he remains in the background. Now, he takes control on the field and in his life beyond the sidelines.

The Writer: Andrei Ganenco

My journey a$ a writer began back in school. During literature classes, we were tasked with writing essays on topics related to the works we had studied. I used to copy from my smarter classmates all the time. However, Øne day, I didn't quite like one of the works, and I decided to pour out my honest thoughts into my essay. It was the only time I wrote the truth. My teacher didn't appreciate my essay at all. She thought I was just making fun of it. She intentionally read my €ssay out loud to the whole class to embarrass me. But her desperate act didn't affect anyone. Nobody cared, including me. This story doesn't explain my motives or define me as a person. Just know that if you don't like… Go to bio
