Synopsis/Details
RATATOSK is modeled after wildly successful tentpoles carried by a demographic raised on pop culture references and video games. It is also a broadly applicable story about friendship, injustice, and fighting for second chances, which remains entertaining and enjoyable through a sharp sense of humor and an imaginative spectacle. The story begins in Copenhagen, where we meet KAY - an American ex-pat living in Copenhagen after a bad breakup with a girl he moved to Europe to be with. Kay is a struggling comic, and after we see him dunk on a heckler, he has a fateful run-in with RATATOSK - the squirrel of legend from Norse mythology who is charged with carrying messages up and down the World Tree. With the help of a lot of pot, the foul-mouthed and wise-cracking squirrel (Rocket from GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY meets TED) convinces Kay to help him get back to Asgard, only for Kay to accidentally come along for the ride. Trapped in an extraordinary realm, Kay meets characters from legend, including gods, monsters, and a stable full of the bizarre talking animals from various Norse myths, including a golden boar, an eight-legged horse, Thor’s goats, and more. Kay and Ratatosk go on an epic quest as the fate of the universe hangs in the balance, and Kay must decide if he is going to fight to give the world another chance - or if he is going to help end it all.
