Synopsis/Details
Diana Valentine is a successful classic movie memorabilia broker in South Florida. She is married to Kyle Lyons, an unpredictable reality star who hosts a show about treasure hunting, which gets canceled due to their inability to find any treasure. The gossip sheets blame “siren” Diana for the show's failure, and their marriage ends in sudden fury and tabloid cyclones. Six months later, Diana reluctantly accepts the proposal of a TV star, Grayson Allenton, who is shooting his latest medical series in Miami. Grayson is a fussy character, much like Kelsey Grammer's Frasier. He takes over the wedding arrangements, picking a luxury all-inclusive resort in the Bahamas for the ceremony. Unbeknownst to Diana, her maid of honor, Erin has catfished Kyle to lure him to the resort, believing that Kyle and Diana are still in love. Erin also tips off a tabloid, hoping their arrival will distract Grayson, allowing Kyle and Diana to reconcile. However, when Kyle arrives, he is devastated to discover that Diana is getting married spontaneously, and the tabloid reporters are more than just a distraction. As Diana and Kyle bicker about who caused their ties to unravel, they realize that their imperfections got in the way of their once-imagined "happily ever after." Complications arise when Diana realizes she might want out before saying, "I do." She toys with the idea of flirting with Joel, one of the tabloid reporters, who is a bit of a ladies' man in his mind. She hopes that Joel's tabloid partner, Kristina, who has a crush on him, will get jealous and cause a scene, and Grayson will call it a day. Kyle figures out what Diana is contemplating, so when Joel innocently whisks Diana away from the engagement party when his editor sends in a surprise guest, Kyle confronts Diana and Joel. Diana decides she needs to go through with her promise to marry Grayson. Kyle believes his persistence has only pushed Diana further toward that decision. In the end, Diana realizes that Kyle still holds her heart, and they both learn lessons about what it takes to make a relationship work. Diana and Kyle decide to give love another shot, and on the trip home on Kyle's boat, they finally find sunken treasure. "Second Chances" is a heartwarming blend of “Ticket to Paradise” and “The Philadelphia Story,” perfect for seasoned middle-aged actors. At its core, this romantic comedy delves into the unpredictable nature of love, reminding us that sometimes, the most precious treasures are the ones we’ve already discovered.

The Writer: Mary Kay LaBrie

Embarking on a screenwriting voyage over two decades ago, I've seen scripts of mine embraced with options and one tantalizingly close to production. Yet, I sought refuge in the culinary arts as Hollywood's tides turned towards a monochrome future (think endless MATRIX marathons). My pen, once devoted to crafting narratives, now conjured flavors, leading me to helm multiple cooking blogs, savor victory at The World Food Championships, and grace the pages of "Taste of Home" and "Country Woman." Journalism beckoned next, with "The Southlake Tablet" featuring my byline, followed by an invitation from Chef Anthony Lagana to infuse words with taste for "Menu Innovator." I'm the creative force… Go to bio
