Synopsis/Details
Following the tragic loss of his wife to cancer six months earlier, small-town preacher Sam Preston finds himself adrift in despair. His once steadfast dedication to God and his congregation now plays second fiddle to Jack Daniels. One fateful rainy night, after indulging in yet another bout of heavy drinking, Sam awakens behind the wheel of his wrecked pickup truck to a horrifying realization: he has inadvertently taken the life of a woman. To his horror, the woman's head inexplicably jerks up, her eerie yellow eyes gleaming as she begins to crawl towards him like a demonic apparition.
In a frantic panic, Sam kicks at the grotesque figure until she lies motionless in a pool of blood. With trembling hands, he hastily drags the woman into the woods and buries her. Yet, the horror of that night continues to torment Sam, as hallucinations of the yellow-eyed woman plague his every waking moment. Is she a manifestation of his guilt-stricken conscience, or something far more sinister?
As Sam grapples with the overwhelming weight of his guilt, compounded by the grief of his wife's passing and his spiraling addiction to alcohol, his grasp on reality begins to slip. Paranoia, confusion, and violent outbursts become the norm, causing turmoil within his close-knit community and jeopardizing his position as their spiritual leader.
Descending into a pit of despair, Sam reaches a breaking point, renouncing his faith and setting ablaze all remnants of his religious devotion. However, his desperate attempt to escape his demons only serves to intensify their hold on him, culminating in a terrifying confrontation with the yellow-eyed woman that forces him to confront his sins head-on.
Driven by a desperate need for absolution, Sam makes a harrowing decision to confess his crime to the authorities, leading to his incarceration. Yet, even behind bars, the specter of the yellow-eyed woman looms large, a haunting reminder of the darkness that still lurks within him.
As Sam grapples with his new-found faith and confronts the reality of his actions, he finds solace in the unlikely role of a preacher to his fellow inmates. But just when he believes he has found redemption, a chilling encounter with a female guard with eyes that flash yellow serves as a stark reminder that his journey towards forgiveness is far from over.
