Synopsis/Details
Late nineteenth century. An island forest in northern Europe in late autumn. A dozen blind people, who were being led through the forest, have lost their guide—an old Catholic priest. They sit there and wonder aloud where he must have gone, where exactly they are, and how they will get back to their home (an asylum for the blind). Eventually the stranded men and women discover not only that the priest has died, but also that his corpse has been right in front of them the whole time. Suddenly the members of the group hear the footsteps of an unidentified being—man or animal—as it approaches, and they all cry out in anxiety and fear.
