Two year old Aubrey and twelve year old Penny, who loves her baby sister and takes care of her every day, are suddenly orphaned and then separated for twenty years. The day Aubrey graduates from college, Penny arrives on her doorstep -- but neither Aubrey nor her adoptive parents have any memory or knowledge of Penny. Convinced by evidence Penny carries with her that she is indeed Aubrey’s only biological family, the two sisters spend a week together trying to come to terms with the time they’ve lost, and to understand each other despite the very different lives they’ve led the past two decades.
