SMARK: Operation Smart Shark

When Mindy McCloud was 7 years old, she witnessed her entire family get eaten by a shark whilst being towed on an inflatable banana boat. The experience left her with a lifelong hatred of sharks (and an ambiguous attitude towards water sports). 20 years later, and Mindy McCloud is now Doctor Mindy McCloud - a strong, independent woman, and the world’s foremost (and only) marine psychologist. But when Mindy’s boyfriend Mark - an underwater photojournalist – goes missing after going on a classified assignment, her world is turned upside down.

Mindy is approached by billionaire businessman KARL GRAVES, who offers Mindy a job aboard his multi-billion-dollar offshore research facility. Graves claims he is looking to undo the damage that evil and corrupt corporations (like his) and egomaniacal billionaires (like him) have done to the planet’s oceans. Mindy is hesitant, but later, whilst going through Mark’s things, finds evidence that Mark’s assignment was an investigation into Graves’ research facility! Mindy accepts Graves’ offer, hoping to find out what happened to Mark.

On the surface, Grave’s floating research station seems to be doing important research into cleaning up the ocean, and Graves seems genuine in his desire to make the ocean a “safe space.” Graves unexpectedly confesses his love for Mindy, and in a grand romantic gesture presents her with a gift… the shark that ate her family! He offers Mindy the opportunity to kill the shark, but Mindy can’t quite bring herself to do it.

Mindy secretly explores the facility’s lower levels and is horrified to discover a laboratory full of living brains… including Mark’s! Mark’s brain is attached to a device that wirelessly transfers data, which allows Mark to communicate with Mindy. He reveals that Graves is planning on putting the brains of the super-rich into the bodies of man-eating sharks, so that once the icecaps have melted (he’s also planning to melt the ice caps), the 0.1% will continue to rule the world! Graves discovers Mindy’s “treachery” and, determined to separate the lovers forever, puts Mark’s brain into the body of the shark that killed her family!

There are only two things standing in the way of Grave’s evil scheme: Doctor Mindy McCloud - Marine psychologist – and the super-intelligent shark she loves… SMARK!
