Synopsis/Details
Juliet Clark, is an ER specialist (30). In February 2008, Juliet is travelling in the third of three Humvees on Route Irish between Bagdad Airport and the Green Zone. She is one of the specialists assigned to accompany injured military destined to be flown to Landstuhl in Germany. On the trip from the airport to the Green Zone, the second Humvee hits a land mine and blows up. Juliet and other military personnel jump out of their Humvee to offer assistance. A firefight between insurgents and the military ensues, but Juliet is one of the rescuers who is blown ten feet in the air. Because of her flax jacket and Kevlar helmet her upper body is protected, but her lower body is badly broken. Unseen helicopters can be heard in the distance. Juliet is airlifted to CSH in the Green Zone. As Juliet babbles about a child, her mind flashes back to her college days and her life with her identical twin Megan. Jack Dalton (then 25) and Megan Clark (then 23) are medical students and an item. Juliet (then 23) is Megan’s rebellious identical twin sister, who has a bad relationship with her stepfather and a slight infatuation for her sister’s boyfriend Jack. At certain times, Megan and Juliet can feel that the other is in pain. Jack takes the Clark twins out on the town and they all get intoxicated. Unexpectedly, Juliet and Jack have a night of sex creating a rift between her, Megan and the entire family. Juliet joins the military to work in Veterans Hospitals. Her interlude with Jack leaves her pregnant; she tells nobody and goes it alone to have the child as a single mother. Three years later, Jack and Megan graduate as doctors and at the graduation identical twin Juliet is a no-show. Megan and Jack have broken up and he cannot get her back. With a young daughter in tow, Juliet is at the airport with her friends, an African American couple, Monica and Bill Brown, and their son Bradley. They are bound for the US medical facility in Landstuhl, Germany. Losing Megan, Jack tries several attempts to get her back, but she is unforgiving. To try and get his live in order, Jack decides to do a tour as a military doctor. Megan, now (30) is doing her rounds in a Philadelphia hospital, she grips her back and collapses. She knows that something has happened to her sister and wails to the doctors accompanying her. The doctors are astounded as there is no physical reason for Megan’s pain. This happens at the same time that her sister Juliet has been blown up in the roadside attack. Juliet is placed on the operating table in CSH. 31st Combat Support Hospital, Bagdad. Jack is one of the doctors attending her, she is pronounced dead and when they turn her body over Jack is devastated when he recognizes her. Juliet is removed to the morgue and her spirit rises out of her body to meet an immaculately dressed and handsome Mr. Saint (40) in a white suit. Under the guidance of Mr. Saint, Juliet’s spirit is sent back to communicate with Jack that he has a daughter. She can only appear to Jack, talk to him and touch him, but Jack cannot touch her. As nobody else can see Juliet, this makes Jack appear insane to his fellow soldiers as he is found talking to himself. Julia tells Jack that he has a daughter in Landstuhl who he has to accept, as he is her father and he should take her home to the US. Jack does so and returns to Philadelphia where he practices at Jefferson Hospital. The Browns return to the US a few weeks later and are saying with Jack until their home has been cleaned up after tenants. Juliet mission from Mr. Saint is to mend the relationship her identical sister Megan had with Jack. Although Juliet is only permitted to appear to Jack, but after a meeting with Jack where he introduces Megan to his and Juliet’s daughter, Megan believes and feels the presence of her deceased sister. Jack’s daughter Meggie is confused and amazed with how much her new Aunt Megan looks like her mother Juliet. Juliet appears in Megan’s bedroom several times and although Megan can smell her fragrance, she cannot see her sister. Megan is now engaged to be married and is led to believe that although she still has feelings for Jack, especially since she has met her niece and Monica Brown whom she believes must be Jack’s girlfriend. Jack tries several times to make it clear that he and Monica are really good friend and that in fact Monica was Juliet’s best friend. Every time he tries to make it clear about their relationship, he seem to be cut off before the truth is revealed. Juliet starts to interfere within the family by making strange things happen that gets Mr. Saint on her case for her flippancy. Her time is limited and Mr. Saint wants the case closed immediately. Thus, the spirit of Juliet has a momentous and sometimes comical task in trying to mend the damage without direct intervention, which she has a hard time dealing with. With divine intervention, assisted by Mr. Saint and delivered by Monica Brown, it all comes to an unusual conclusion on Megan’s wedding day as the ceremony is underway.
