Synopsis/Details
In this feel-good, thought-provoking, high-concept, sci-fi mash of genres (including comedy), Will Ward's soul experiences new universes never imagined; worlds where money, war, and hate do not exist, prompting him to try and make the Earth a better place. Will is a tech billionaire on a mission to find his father’s soul so he can say his goodbyes. He funds a “squeezebox” project, which places him into a coma, releasing his soul to travel to the ten dimensions defined by Einstein’s string theory. Meanwhile, Reggie Wright, a struggling African American comedian, age 34, is trying to cut his teeth doing small gigs, not knowing (and the audience not knowing) that he is the reincarnated soul of Will. Will’s soul travels, ultimately leading him to his parallel universe, where he encounters himself (Will II) on the utopian planet “Experian.” Here, he witnesses a world that is what heaven on earth could be, a world where money and greed do not exist, a place of little stress and no homelessness or hate. However, Will has unknowingly upset the balance of the universe as he reveals to Will II (his parallel) the existence of Earth and its brutal, greedy, capitalist ways. Meanwhile, Reggie has recurring dreams where old man Will prods him nightly with intel as to where he has left his fortune. Reggie, humorously involving the Jackson Five song “ABC,” finally puts the puzzle together as he travels to a bank in San Francisco where a safety deposit box holds billions. However, the money comes with great responsibility as he learns that he is the reincarnated soul of Will and is tasked with improving life on Earth. Reggie attempts to ignore Will’s intentions for the money as he rebels by partying in excess with his newfound wealth; however, his recurring dreams escalate. A new intense dream ensues, where Reggie becomes POTUS, sealing his fate. This recurring dream haunts his ability to ignore his fate as he bottoms out. His mom, ANNA, must bail him out of jail as he is strung out and beaten from a night of excess, where he crashes his Lamborghini, throwing thousands to the wind. In a purposeful slide of fate, he is bailed out of jail by his mom as the two are involved in a horrific car wreck ordered by God to get Reggie on the straight and narrow. The wreck places Reggie in a coma, where he meets Jesus, as he is conveyed his destiny. His soul is filled with intel before he comes out of the coma. The now-inspired Reggie is armed with God-given algorithms and AI that spark a political movement as he becomes a man on a mission to solve many of society’s problems. Meanwhile, the travels of William Ward have created an imbalance in the universe where his parallel, Will II's neighbor George, has duplicated the squeezebox and traveled to Earth, where he encounters evil. His ability to return home is shattered as the evil soul of Stalin grabs his return beacon. The now evil George returns to Experian, where he learns of new power sources that he uses to create a weapon of mass destruction by resurrecting the pyramids upon his return to Earth. Reggie runs for president based on his humor and success at solving homelessness as he launches a new political party; winning a landslide victory as POTUS, he is put in direct conflict with the evil and aggressive, newly formed European state of Prussia. The screenplay ends with the world at the brink of world war, where the clash of good (President Reggie) and evil (Reincarnated Stalin) face off, setting up the sequel. Humor is at the core of this thought-provoking sci-fi dramedy that challenges the audience with lead-by-example solutions to pressing social problems like homelessness, politics, and life after death. The sequel introduces new teen characters, alien invaders, world war, and more incredible black hole soul travels.
