Synopsis/Details
In the wake of global hits like Squid Game and Westworld, "The Selected" emerges as a groundbreaking feature franchise, pushing the boundaries of the survival, action-adventure, and thriller genres to new heights. Set in the year 2240, in a dystopic world where overpopulation has reached critical levels, a ruthless government implements the "Select Games," a fight-to-the-death draft program designed to curb the population. At the heart of this gripping narrative lies the Hook, a visceral, futuristic gladiator game inspired by Clash of the Titans, designed to deliver DNA-created FX monsters and UFC martial arts action on every other page. The protagonist, BEN, inspired by Jason Statham, is a family man and ex-military brass who is a retired veteran killing machine. He works at the local grocery store as a butcher, where two female Select Game participants fight to the death in his store. Ben makes the mistake of interrupting the fight, a Select Games rule violation with consequences, as he is drafted into the game. At first, Ben resists participation, but he is soon reminded otherwise as advanced technology in the form of spider drones pin Ben to the wall in his home as the head of the select games visits him, sternly reminding him that resistance is futile. Now he must kill fifteen Select Game participants to be retired from the game or die trying. Meanwhile, the audience is introduced to the director of the Select Games, DUNCAN, who is a pawn of General Z, the eccentric brain behind the games. General Z has ambitious plans to expand his killing machine by scouring the earth for exotic DNA legends like Sasquatch, Chupacabra, GataMan, and Flytrap Man. These tools are tested as General Z unleashed Flytrap Man on a Senator who opposes the brutal games. Flytrap Man attacks the Senator in an alleyway, beheading her with his eerie Flytrap head. This high-profile murder brings an investigation as the police become involved, as the DNA of a flytrap man confuses the investigation. With his political adversary out of the way General Z steps up his game with the announcement of his “Friday Night Tie Fights” drone power flying arena entertainment show. Meanwhile, Ben finds himself in a Select Game battle with a formidable foe as he struggles to finish his adversary in a horrific fight-to-the-death battle that does not go unnoticed, as Duncan sends recovery drones to capture the two fighters. The two are chosen to be the participants for the first Friday Night Tie Fights spectacle on the drone-powered flying arena. This flying arena spectacle is reminiscent of Squid Game, filled with FX-laden twists. The narrative climaxes with the arena battle, setting the stage for a sequel filled with even more adrenaline-pumping action, monsters, and twists. As the climax of the fight unfolds, Ben's win takes an unexpected turn as his adversary falls to his death, or does he? This sets the stage for an even more incredible sequel that introduces new characters, the rise of Ben’s technologically enhanced tie fight adversary, more monsters, and the announcement of a Logan's Run-inspired “Super Select Bowl.” Furthermore, the sequel explores Ben's WWIV past and the rise of his insurgency armies against General Z, adding depth to the narrative. The Selected is considered a medium-budget production with limited locations and characters relying on FX to bring its futuristic world and test-tube-created monsters to life. With its adrenaline-fueled narrative blending survival, adventure, thriller, drama, and sci-fi elements, The Selected promises an unforgettable franchise opportunity. From martial arts fighting to action-packed games and monster-driven twists, this multi-award-winning franchise will captivate audiences from start to finish with its unwavering action. Get ready to immerse yourself in a world where survival is the ultimate game, and technological advancements bring old monsters to life. Enjoy.
