Synopsis/Details
Stephen Kennedy, pompous television actor, experiences severe head trauma on the set of his hit TV sitcom and can no longer tell the difference between his TV persona and his real life. Victoria Steinfeld, Stephen’s assistant, covers up his condition, and blackmails the network executive, Myron Kingman, who caused the accident. In retaliation, Myron scurries to find dirt on Victoria and is threatened by an organized crime syndicate. Stephen’s TV family struggles with his unpredictable behavior and runs to Myron for help. Stephen ignores Myron’s authority and demands Myron stay out of his way. The only person able to pull Stephen back to reality is his 12-year-old neighbor, Stella Star, an aspiring actor. Once back to real life, Stephen returns to his middle-class home in sleepy Burbank, California, where he takes care of his wheelchair-bound, 86-year-old mother, Esther. Unlike Stephen’s modest living environment, Esther enjoys a glamorous, art- and music-filled suite that opens onto a magical, rose-covered backyard. In the morning, when his driver picks him up, Stephen reverts to his TV persona and his sitcom life takes over again.
