Synopsis/Details
Eva, who doesn’t speak, and Tassos, her adult, autistic son, live all by themselves on a tiny Greek island. Their only company is a flock of goats, and occasional visits by a ship captain, who brings them supplies. The quiet rhythm of their lives is disrupted, when a young tourist couple run aground on the island. The two strangers are in an abusive relationship, which connects to Eva’s past and to why she is on the island. Adam, the abusive Brit, is faced with a situation – stranded with “a mute and a retard,” as he puts it – and reactions that he doesn’t know how to handle, making him vulnerable. Sandra, passive from years of abuse, accepts that Eva takes charge of her and protects her. As Tassos opens up to her, long-held secrets emerge. When Eva takes action to free Sandra from the abusive relationship with Adam once and for all, the almost mystical connection between Eva, her animals and her environment manifests itself in full force. In liberating Sandra, Eva also liberates herself and is able to embrace life fully once more.

The Writer: Christiane Lange

Since childhood I have been fascinated by other people, other cultures, and the stories they have to tell. This motivated me to learn foreign languages, travel, and to relocate first to the US and then to Greece. A colorful life has given me contact with people and situations that beg to be put in stories of their own. Go to bio
