Synopsis/Details
SUNDOWN is a gripping psychological thriller that pits a former prison guard against a psychopathic ex-con who wants to torment him as much as he was tormented. What gives great prospects to this story is the power of the antagonist (named BAD ASS) against the ex-prison guard (GORDON) who is trying to keep up with the times. During it all, Gordon deals with the death of his wife, his ailing body, and the fact that life has moved on without him. There's plenty of octane coursing through the veins of the script, as the writer throttles the action against some nice moments of tenderness, including verbal sparring between Bad Ass and Gordon, which crescendos into a hellacious and powerful third act and resolution. There's some great tension "on the page" during the set pieces, and the contained environment affords the film various avenues of "producibility" (meaning finance structures). Part DON'T BREATHE, part PANIC ROOM, the writer's voice is exhibited on every page of this thriller.
