The Backrooms concept originated on 4chan in 2019 when someone posted a photo, taken at an uneasy angle, of a dingy yellow room illuminated by fluorescent lights. And the question was...what lies beyond?

What if it's just an endless, panic-inducing maze of empty rooms? What if, once you step into the Backrooms, you can never escape? People's imagination ran wild, and the stories grew and quickly spread beyond 4chan.

The Backrooms is a creative thought experiment following the question "if people could disappear into the kenopsic spaces of The Backrooms, what would it look like? What would exist there?". Hundreds of aficionados banded together and created Backrooms Database wiki, where they describe different levels, the eerie experiences, and the monsters that might dwell there. This is an open, collaborative fictional work that's been growing for a few years, captivating the collective imagination.

The show:
Have you ever wandered in an empty office building at night? Or in the abandoned hallways of a school in summer? When you hear a sound in those kenopsic* spaces, you don't stop to check it out - you quicken your pace and leave as fast as you can. And you should, or you just might end up in The Backrooms...
The Backrooms is a mind-bending horror, mystery TV series that evokes the creepy and the uncanny, leveraging that feeling of kenopsia(the eerie, forlorn atmosphere of a place that's usually bustling with people but is now

The pilot:
When a mysterious woman leaves five ordinary corporate employees stranded in The Backrooms, they're completely clueless as to what this place is or how to get out of it. As they search for an exit, bizarre events start eating away at their sanity. Then one of them goes missing.

Beyond the pilot:
As they realize that there's no simple way out of The Backrooms, the group must make some tough decisions. How will they share food and water of which they have so little? Where to go next? Whose lead should they follow? Can they trust those they meet inside? Can they even trust themselves? Their office personas crack, and the real people behind them are revealed - for better or worse.
