Synopsis/Details
1938. The Long Island Express, one of American History’s most destructive storms, lays waste to an island off the coast of New England. After the island’s inhabitants attempt to piece their lives back together, a terrible fate awaits them for not only did the storm bring devastation to their island, it also brought a 40-foot bloody-thirsty creature. Days following the storm, people go missing. Strange barnacled rocks appear on the shore. One of the town’s delinquent teenagers witnesses his friend being pulled into the night by a large, talon-like hand. The town holds a social and during this celebration, the creature appears. It charges down Main St, leaving rubble in its wake. People are eaten. People are thrown. Cars are torn to pieces. The creature runs amok. Two groups of people seek shelter. A deputy and his stubborn, domineering father, also the Sheriff, butt heads consistently on which course of action to take. A young girl discovers her true love over the backdrop of this natural and super-natural disaster. The town delinquent, with no love for the island and its people, suddenly finds the strength to save the town and take the monster head on. It’s soon discovered that the creature is not the only threat. Its babies are hatching. Those barnacled rocks are actually eggs and they have begun to hatch. Now a half-dozen baby creatures terrorize the islanders. These two groups of islanders have different plans of action. Some look to escape the island by racing to the ferry, in hopes the storm didn’t damage the motor. The other group makes a break for the police station for firepower and take on the creature. The ferry does work, but they only get out so far until the creature leaps from the shore and lands on the deck of the ferry. Anyone looking to escape the terror are only met with despair and death. With the creature’s babies picking off people one by one the creature, itself, destroying everything in its wake, the remaining survivors have no choice but to make one last stand.

The Writer: Michael Field

My Why I grew up loving the cinema. I still do. That love spurned me towards storytelling. At first, I started out as an actor and soon realized, while I enjoy it, I prefer creating the story and not just being part of it and I've been telling stories for over 20 years. When we all start watching movies and television shows and we find the ones we love, we really don't know why. But my desire to become a storyteller forced me to realize that without story, without great writing, all those movies wouldn't last. It's the story that keeps the great ones with us for our lives. My Work I directed a feature I penned in 2005 titled, "Save the Forest", which enjoyed a small run on Netflix as well… Go to bio
