Synopsis/Details
Ian James and Sue Danvers have been best-friends since the age of six. They work at the same office, have the same friends, and do everything together. In fact, the only thing they don't share, is a bed. Ian goes on a blind date with Ellen Shepherd - a friend of a friend - and soon he begins to fall for her, much to the detriment of his relationship with Sue. As Ian's relationship with Ellen develops, his friendship with Sue begins to deteriorate, and soon they begin to argue about Ellen, who has fallen pregnant. Ian finds himself increasingly torn between his duty to Ellen and his new family, and his entire way of life, exacerbated by Sue's accusation that he has abandoned her for another woman. Ian begins questioning the nature of their friendship, leading Sue to confess that she is in love with him. As the arguments become more aggressive and more frequent, the tension between the old friends builds, leading to them sleeping together. Ian confesses to Ellen that he and Sue slept together, causing her to leave him. Sue moves away, leaving Ian on his own. Months later, Ian and Ellen meet at a wedding. Ian asks her forgiveness and hints at reconciliation, but Ellen declines. Instead, she settles for a dance, and suggests that there may be hope for them in the future, but that he will have to regain her trust before she allows him back into both her life and the life of their unborn child.

The Writer: Mark Williams

Born and raised by working-class parents in a poor industrial town in South Wales, I am constantly moved and inspired by stories of every day people living extraordinary lives, and tales of success against the odds. More recently, as a father, I have become more enamoured with tales that set out to inspire future generations in the same way. I graduated from the International Film School of Wales in 2006 with a Masters in Film, and shortly afterwards began writing and producing short films for festivals. In 2007 I won the Best Student Film award at the Swansea Bay Film Festival for a short film entitled COUNTDOWN, followed by a handful of nominations at festivals in Australia, Europe and… Go to bio
