Synopsis/Details
DIRT GARZA, a boxer desperately trying to make his father proud, finally gets an opportunity to fight a ranked boxer. After JERRY, his best friend and “expert” on his life, gets them put on the no-fly list, they are forced to drive to Las Vegas for the fight. On the way, their car breaks down outside a deserted town where Dirt saves VANESSA, an attractive yet hardened woman, from an apparent attack. But they’re not stuck in any deserted town. They’re stuck in a town that’s the international hub for organized crime. And they’re swiftly dragged into a mafia world war. Traveling at gunpoint, Dirt and Jerry are locked into one bad choice after another as Vanessa subjects them to dead bodies, ruthless killers, and stolen cars. Skirting a thin line of good and evil, Vanessa saves Dirt from the law, revealing she has a higher purpose. And a soul. By now it’s obvious they both feel deeper for each other than either of them are willing to admit. With little consideration for how violent she is, Dirt acquiesces to Vanessa filling an obvious void in his life. Until she does the unspeakable and destroys all hope for a future. When the law finally catches up with Dirt and Jerry, Vanessa disappears. However, being locked up works in Dirt and Jerry’s favor. It gives Dirt time to reflect on his life. And puts both of them in the right place to make a deal with the feds. With everything back in perspective, Dirt flips on Jerry one last time when he discovers Vanessa’s higher path: Catch the real bad guys. Now, he too wants to go out in a blaze of glory. But after Jerry is shot, Dirt realizes; this wasn’t a journey to Las Vegas, but a journey of self-discovery. In the end, he makes it just in time to save his relationship with his father. And to finish this path as a boxer.

The Writer: Vince Parenti

From New York, Vince swapped the cold winters for tennis in the Los Angeles. He studied filmmaking at The Los Angeles Film School after winning a few awards for Longest Yard Sale and Green Room out of grit and determination. Now that he thinks he knows what he's doing, he spends his time writing dark comedies, and grounded dark dramas. Only making the finalist round recently suggests his writing doesn't suck, but might not be for everyone. Vince, a future trend enthusiast, is always looking to forge new relationships, develop new projects, and to continue to write more scripts about the human condition [my bio, inspired by Remus].
