Twenty-three year-old Penny loses another job, through no fault of her own, lands on welfare, faces eviction from her run-down apartment, is too far gone for bankruptcy to help much, and tries to fend off a cad of an ex-boyfriend who insists on getting reacquainted.

And that’s just for starters!

Because as she pens a manuscript that might turn her life around, (shades of J.K. Rowling!) an eclectic band of neighbors offer truckloads of advice - some wise, some not, and some just plain ridiculous.
