Synopsis/Details
Bradman Cole, a disgraced ex-Master Sergeant, arrives at a planetary prison colony to serve a life sentence after his hasty order led to the destruction of what he believed was a pirate ship, tragically killing five civilians. The planet’s poisonous water and barren terrain offer only isolation and despair. Survival depends on mining a vital mineral for water purification, and Cole struggles to adapt as tensions simmer among the convicts.
Decades ago, a colonial government conducted trials with alien nematodes, releasing them into the colony's lakes for terraforming tech research. The official reports concluded their mass extinction, and the project was abandoned, but it unexpectedly gave rise to something dangerous. A single organism survived, evolving into a shapeshifting entity lurking in the foggy lake near the prison, thriving on radionuclides in the water. Alarmed by a drop in its habitat’s water levels, the entity attacks the prison’s water treatment plant, killing the staff and cutting off the colony’s only fresh water supply.
As desperation and thirst take hold of the prison, and outside help remains out of reach, the warden offers freedom to anyone brave enough to neutralize the threat. Haunted by his past mistakes and craving redemption, Cole volunteers to lead a team of convicts into the heart of danger. But as they set out on the mission, they have no idea their weapons will soon prove useless against the deadly entity, which claims its first victim among the team, leaving them with nothing but bare survival instincts to confront the nightmare.
