Synopsis/Details
TRIGGERS is an hour-long drama/dark comedy series, which focuses on solutions and alternative approaches that will be controversial. This is not "another rehab" script. Here they use cutting edge science as well as psychedelic drugs, virtual reality, even electroshock (ECT) since 12 Step programs and talk therapy haven't worked for these clients, who come from all walks of life. It's really a medical show about mental and emotional triggers that cause self-destructive behavior.
Think of it as a fresh twist on medical dramas. Instead of dealing with rare diseases that affect one in a million people, TRIGGERS focuses on one thing that affects millions of lives every day: our national mental health crisis.
Here's "The Breaking Point" pilot logline: After the latest mass shooting triggers an on-air meltdown, a self-destructive radio shock jock checks into a radically unconventional treatment center, intent on sabotaging the recovery of his estranged brother - now one of the counselors, who were once notorious drunks, junkies and sex addicts in their prior lives.
It's the last resort for people who have given up on traditional rehab and 12 Step programs. Some will make it, using a combination of cutting edge science and centuries-old spiritual practices. Others will relapse or die trying. Although this is fiction, it's based on real people and experiences... including my own, since I'm a recovering alcoholic/addict who has managed to stay sober for over 20 years.
If you'd like to read the pilot and series bible or want to know more about my personal story, please contact me directly. I used to be repped by a semi-famous manager who passed away and my last manager closed shop due to the pandemic. Thanks for your time!
