Synopsis/Details
The pilot begins with a brief introduction to the twelve gods of Lidaesea. They meet to determine who among them is a traitor and are almost killed until their leader, Ghantei, saves their souls by placing them into tomes. This begins a centennial cycle where the gods choose a Tomekeeper from their nations to do their bidding.
On this cycle, we are introduced first to the mermaid Princess Yonni Sxem of the underwater kingdom of Anqualai. She prepares for her brother’s arrival back from military school and converses with her mother, the Queen, and trusted General Gandreke. Next, we are introduced to Tuvhe Vull, knight of the nation of Senna, who searches for his friends along a snowy mountain pass. Third is I’el Rivini, an elf from the forest nation of Phreeton, wakes in a field after forgetting that she was on teaching duty. Her love interest, Friston, arrives with the children. Finally, the masochistic Verina Hinlon is introduced as she hunts a man across a barren wasteland known as the Smilelands.
In Act II, Yonni confers with her mother about her brother’s return. They arrive at the celebration, but it is cut short when she is chosen by the god Drinex and freezes the area with ice magic. She passes out. I’el teaches the children, who are distracted by a vine that slowly entangles itself around her. Tuvhe discovers an outpost on fire and investigates, but is swarmed by goblin-like creatures known as Ravilors. He is chosen by the god Eslen, known amongst the others as “The Betrayer.” Meanwhile, Verina catches and kills the man she was hunting, offering it as a sacrifice to her god, Istio.
In Act III, Yonni awakes and is informed by her mother that she is one of twelve Tomekeepers selected by the gods. Yonni is told they all must travel to the kingdom of Prodigium to collect their tomes and embrace their full powers. I’el is chosen by the goddess Noli, which causes the vines around her to sprout into a full cocoon. Tuvhe wakes, having slaughtered the Ravilors in a trance, and makes his way further up the mountain. The pilot closes as Verina is chosen by Istio, which causes her to break down into a psychotic fit of joy and take her place as one of the villains moving forward.
