Synopsis/Details
Thirteen-year-old Seth Hicks is adjusting to a new life after his father abandons the family during the financial troubles of 2008. Seth, his ten-year-old sister Bailey, and overworked mother Rose move into the Red Lodge Inn, a low-rent highway-side motel. Seth must get use to the cramped confines of a single room motel while also becoming the man of his family. While their mother is at work, Seth and Bailey discover a group of children living at the motel with their families. Seth develops a crush on Kelly, the tough self-appointed leader of the group. With little oversight and even less money available, the kids spend their days trying to fight off boredom and stay out of trouble.
The show is a snapshot in time, dealing with a difficult period in the country’s history, as seen through the eyes of children. The core of the show is not about the hardships of growing up in poverty but how connections can be made even during the most challenging of occasions, ones that shape who we are and who we become.
