Synopsis/Details
Dennis lurks behind a monster mask as he hums the score to an old Saturday night horror flick and records himself with a camera. He's not out to kill, but to date--and this is his online companionship video. He seeks a woman, but that's not easy for an oddball who has hoarded 2,000 monster masks. Dennis has another problem: an irrational fear that something is after him--perhaps residing in his basement storage area. His childhood was filled with terrifying visits from beyond, information he doesn't share with the dating pool. Sandra and Carrie are divorcees/tandem daters who respond to Dennis as a lark. They meet at a horror convention, where some of Dennis's old fears manifest. An unplanned visit to a rough-around-the-edges bar leads to a dispute. Dennis is ditched and meets Jimmy McDonald, a regular who takes a malicious interest in the out-of-place visitor. Dennis is "rescued" by Carrie, but their chance at a meaningful connection is threatened by Jimmy and whatever awaits in Dennis's basement. Companionship is not easy when you are with monsters.

The Writer: Rob Herzog

My chief talent isn’t writing, it’s being afraid. As a kid, I freaked out about spontaneous human combustion, killer bees, and the prospect of a bathtub shark attack. And the 3,600 miles between me and the Loch Ness Monster wasn’t nearly enough. All of this youthful anxiety runs wild in my screenplays. Blame the neighborhood weirdo kid for setting me on this path. When I was six, he predicted that our neighborhood would be attacked by window ghouls. These ghouls supposedly would claw into our rooms and devour us all. Only those blessed with large dogs would survive, he said, because window ghouls hated them. Two nights later, I imagined the ghouls at my window, clawing the screen. At this… Go to bio
