Breakfast for One
An unexpected visitor brings a fatal warning.
Imagine yourself in Nick’s shoes… or to be more precise: “Nick’s bed.”
The protagonist of Mike Murphy’s Breakfast for One, nineteen year old Nick is the ultimate slacker; a young adult eking out life in a ramshackle starter apartment, whiling away at least some nights getting drunk and passing out.
After a bender, waking up can be hard to do. What’s the ticket for rousing Nick from his inebriated dreams?
Well, apparently the smell of bacon does the trick. One whiff, and Nick staggers hungrily to his feet.
In the kitchen he finds: enough bacon on a plate and some still in the pan to be a promising start to the day. It’s only after he chows down that Nick’s brain cells start firing properly. WHO THE HELL COOKED IT? Did he bring someone home he doesn’t recall? Did a burglar break in to… uh… cook? A quick investigation reveals: Nick’s the only one in the apartment… and the door’s locked from INSIDE.
The next morning gets Nick up early, too – this time to catch the “Rogue Chef” in the act. If they return for a culinary encore, that is.
Which they do. Still blurry eyed, Nick finds himself suddenly facing – a ruined and charred mess of a human being. As roasted as the bacon they’re frying up, this spector has a bizarre tale to relay… and (assuming they’re not a dream) a warning Nick will find he can’t ignore!
Short enough to shoot on a budget, Breakfast for One needs a bit of makeup FX to “serve” right. But the unique “flavor” of this horror/drama is sure to wake up audiences. So directors: pull up a chair, and dig in!
