I ask because yesterday I got an email from Pedro Correa.
He wrote, starred in and produced HBO MAX's My Dead Dad and he is an exec at Never Norm Films.
He wanted to know if I have a concept trailer for my screenplay Cendrillon2.
I don't, so that's probably that, even though he said "chat soon".
Not important in the slightest and potentially detrimental to a script's appeal if poorly done.
When done well, they can be a good asset to have, but I wouldn't say a game-changer.
Given that he's approached you out of the blue, I'm assuming he's offering this service to you?
Hasn't so far!
I just got one today and it seems others are getting the same email. I'm starting to guess it's not him:/
Lots of scams where the person contacting you claims to be someone on IMDb that they aren't. A couple of guys doing it on Stage 32 have been reported to the FBI.
I've never heard of a concept trailer. I'll chime in by saying this person might not be real.
I received that same scammy email last week from someone claiming to be Pedro Correa. First, he charms you by congratulating you on one of your scripts, but he doesn't say anything specific about it or mention how he found it. Here's what he sent to me:
Hi Andrea,
Congrats on Parallel Proposals! Pedro here, producer of HBO Max’s “My Dead Dad.”
Quick question – Do you have a concept trailer for the project?
Chat soon,
Pedro Correa

Was he actually interested in my script? He's (supposedly) an actor and the right age for one of my characters. Out of curiousity, I decided to look into it (and him). Not knowing his game, I told him I have a pitch deck but not a trailer. Asked if he was interested in seeing it AND asked how he found my script. Here's the response I received:
Thanks for getting back to me. I'm actually reaching out because your project stood out as a fit for a framework I built that helped me land an Oscar-winning exec producer, sign with lit reps, and get my film financed before anyone even read page one—which eventually we sold to HBO Max.
It’s been a 60-second secret weapon for both WGA vets and first-timers land sales agreements and development deals.
Before jumping into production on our next project, I’m teaming up with writers as a consulting producer to fill our last couple of slots. If any of the above sounds in-line with what you're aiming for, I'm happy to walk you through the process.
You can book a call with me this week here (click “See If I Qualify”): https://nevernormlab.com/
Sooo... obviously a gimmicky way for him to make money off the hopes and dreams of screenwriters. When I checked out the link, it's a slick sales pitch with "endorsements" from unknown screenwriters. It invites you to click on the "See if I Qualify" link, which takes you to several questions. I had no intention of filling them out, but the last one is:
Getting your project made is a commitment both mentally and financially. Which of the following best describes you? *
I HAVE the financial resources to invest in my career (high 4 figures)
I CAN GET the financial resoucres to invest in my career (high 4 figures)
I DO NOT have the financial resources to invest in my career (high 4 figures)
Enough said. I guarantee if you select the last option, you won't "qualify." This guy is out to take writers for high four figures (!!!) to make a 60 second trailer for one of their projects. NOPE!
I guess I wouldn't have qualified, I'm broke. Thanks for the heads up, guys!
I was about to send the response I got back from him. Same website and response I got in return like Andrea. I honestly just flagged the email as phishing at that point lol.
After I got the email from Pedro, an industry professional reached out to me thru Coverfly.
Hi Elizabeth, I hope you don't mind me contacting you, but I saw a post of yours come up on Script Revolution regarding contact from a producer named Pedro Correa from Never Norm Films. Today I received a similar cold email, congratulating me on my project's success and asking if I have a "concept trailer". If you don't mind sharing, what was your experience emailing him back? Did he ask for money for services to create such a trailer? Want permission to build such a thing with AI? Does he seem legit and to have good intentions? I'd greatly appreciate anything you have to share before I chose whether or not to email him back. Thanks you!
I told him I'd emailed back that I did not have a concept and didn't hear another word.
Ripples in a pond?
Not as important as a great script.
You can't polish a turd ( that's a UK colloquialism for a faeces stool).

If anyone is interested in a concept trailer, I'm currently free to take on projects. You can see my latest one here: https://vimeo.com/1105783083?share=copy#t=5.978
@NIki
Enoyed your trailer. As good as most and certainly entertaining. Good luck.
Thanks John!
Apologies, the previous link for THE AI GUY trailer stopped working. Here’s the updated link for my action/sci-fi project: https://vimeo.com/1106150742
I’d love to hear your thoughts. If you need a trailer for your own projects, please reach out—I’m happy to connect!
