Synopsis/Details
A carved wooden sign: The Keres – A resort for stereotypical teenagers (in their twenties) A young woman rockets through the woods, pursued by a masked man welding a knife. She’s fast and his psycho walk isn’t cutting it, he breaks into a light jog. She’s weaving between trees, ducking under branches, leaping over logs until the expected fall comes but – she tucks into a roll and is back up on her toes to sprint away. The masked man’s jog is turned into a run but as he does, tumbles forward and slams into the dirt. A skinny guy also runs through the woods but he is all odd angles and awkward motions until – WHUMPH! He disappears into a hole in the ground. The masked man picks himself up, angry he swing the knife and then… music swells, he begins to sing! He wanders and in song questions his need to kill. The young woman discovers the skinny guy in the hole, his leg with an open break, the bone sticking out. She jumps in to help the poor soul who’s obviously in shock, except, she pokes and prods at his protruding bone. Wiggles it. The scream of the skinny guy breaks the masked man from his song and back onto the hunt. The young woman has taken hand-shears and cut open the skinny guy’s chest! She holds his heart in her hand. She sings of love and finding a man equal to her. The masked man spies the young woman, her victim, the skinny guy, unseen. They sing in counterpoint about their wants. The skinny guy wakes and the young woman squeezes his heart into mush. When the masked man sees this, he wonders if there is a woman he could love. Approaches. With an uneasy stalemate, the young woman stood posed with her hand-shears, the masked man throws her a toe. The young woman smiles, asks if she screamed and delights in the yes. She offers a truce, there are still victims back at the cabin they could kill them together. They leave their meet-cute together almost hand-in-hand. After the credits, the young woman in the carnage they have wreaked, bodies and parts everywhere, stabs the masked man as the perfect end to their love story. Promises he’ll be remembered as the killer and her the hero final girl as it should be.

The Writer: Michael Rogers

Michael Rogers is a screenwriter from ye goode olde land of Blighty (the UK if you don’t speak proper English). Inspired by the existential dread that follows in the wake of a day without writing, he creates features and TV in many a genre including; horror, thriller, drama and sci-fi, all tinged with his “unique” style of (what he calls) humour. Being a misunderstood soul himself (tiny violin plays in the background), he tends to write characters that aren’t what they seem to be on the surface and likes adding something of the unexpected to the story too.
