Synopsis/Details
Series synopsis:
As well as following the two families through their struggles in the “new normal”, there will be flashbacks to the intervening years. The Pankin’s bunker trials and Beyla and Federico’s efforts to survive in the aftermath. These flashbacks tying into the current situations that the characters face.
The Purity Collective being the biggest threat will come more to the fore. Certain Pankin group members will join while others will fight against them. While it appears that Jake, who is freed from the bunker is dead, he will be back for revenge against the Pankin’s and Federico his killer.
Beyla and her group will attack the PC, not for food but guns. Only Federico and one other will survive the encounter. This partially failed plan will earn the attention of the PC and their retribution once they are discovered.
Bioites will be revealed as the cause of the mutations in the plants and animals. They are a biological version of nanites acting like a virus to change DNA with an unknown task. Many a theory is available depending on who you ask.
The Pankin's will go in search of Amy's (the friend of Melody Pankin) baby. Phil later being revealed as the father via rape. Through this, the goals of the PC will be revealed. The PC are trying to repopulate the human race with those who are immune to the bioites and see those infected as less than human. The women are required to birth two or more babies, homosexuality and other “debasements” are forbidden. Anyone discovered to have failed in their “purity” is banished at best and murdered as an example at worst.
One of the women sees a PC doctor. Going through early menopause she begs the doctor to give her some time before the leader is informed. Later she kills herself rather than face going it alone outside.
Beyla and Federico will have an uneasy truce with the PC for a while but their goals and doctrines will force them to leave. Federico not willing to pretend to be straight and Beyla being too old to bear children and unwilling to play grand maid.
A main question of the first series is will the Pankin’s former privilege help them and will the levelled playing field help Beyla and Federico rise?
