Synopsis/Details
Auggie, Santa Claus's crass, clumsy talking cat, wants to be a holiday figure. Unfortunately, Santa thinks Auggie will be a liability and leaves him at home. He is also too distracted by the stress of a changing, cynical, capitalistic world to pay attention to those in his household. Auggie sneaks onto Santa's sleigh on Christmas Eve to sneak his own custom-made toys down chimneys. At one stop, he overhears Krampus - the demon once known for punishing bad kids, now reduced to coal duty - voice his own plan to steal Christmas by force. Krampus sees Auggie and tosses him down a chimney. Auggie meets Elizabeth, an eleven-year-old girl becoming disillusioned with Christmas. Auggie reinvents himself to this new audience as a Holiday figure who sits at Santa’s side every Christmas Eve. Of course, Auggie knows nothing about how to navigate the world, so he recruits her to help while pretending he knows what he’s doing. They stop in a town and Auggie gets into a brief scuffle with a dog. Luckily, the dog’s owner stops him. They board a bus and get closer to the northern shore, but when a lady walks on with a bird cage, Auggie’s instincts take over and they are thrown off the bus. Meanwhile, Krampus strands Santa and his elves in Antarctica and reveals the lumps of coal he dropped down the chimneys are actually robots programmed to issue punishment to everybody “naughty”. Auggie and Elizabeth steal a boat and make it to the North Pole. Auggie admits he exaggerated the truth. They join Mrs. Claus in bringing Santa back, and the North Pole stands together to fight Krampus and his coal. Auggie gets past the coal and fights with Krampus, until he’s able to talk sense into him - both of them felt neglected by Santa and lashed out in different ways, but he cares for both. Krampus shuts down his operation. He is put on house arrest, Elizabeth believes in Santa again, Santa finds joy for his job again, and Auggie is now regarded a holiday figure.
