Synopsis/Details
Billy and Mary Ann Stemple, a struggling young couple with an adorable four-year-old from Omaha, inherit acreage with a rundown farmhouse. One of the stipulations of the will was that they had to live on the farm and it could not be sold. Another stipulation was that they had to take care of Apple. Who or what was Apple? With his carpentry skills and the desire for a new start, they decide to move to the farm in Tennessee. With a completely rebuilt house, the happy family starts a new life. Little did they know they were being watched by a bear? When the bear shows up at their daughter Samantha’s window at night, she decides they are friends. She starts to sneak out at night to feed the bear fruit. One night her dog Randy follows the bear into the woods. Samantha follows the two. Upon waking the next morning, Mary Ann and Billy are in a panic as they look for their daughter. Billy discovers the remains of the apples Samantha fed the bear. Fully panicked, Billy heads to the woods and Mary Ann calls 911. Help arrives and a search party is formed. A helicopter arrives. Just as the search party is ready to start their search, the bear, Randy, and Samantha calmly emerge from the woods. With the sheriff’s deputies ready to shoot the bear, neighbor Jeb arrives and stops them. The bear runs up and hugs Jeb. Jeb explains the bear, Apple, was the uncle’s pet. Billy and Mary Ann become aware of what was meant in the will, “that care of Apple.” Samantha has an unusual pet. The Stemple and Apple live in harmony.
