Synopsis/Details
Actress EMMA’s first trip to visit new boyfriend CAIN’s country home ends abruptly, when he pulls over on a remote road and drugs her.
She awakes to find herself buried in a strange pit in an underground cave, with lights and cameras aimed at her.
Emma manages to escape and discovers Cain’s deserted home and greenhouse above the pit, surrounded by woods and cliffs in the middle of nowhere.
When she tries to leave she is chased back to the house by something unseen in the woods.
Emma attempts to climb down the cliffs to freedom, but hears a car approaching and returns to see Cain arriving with another drugged woman, JEN.
Emma reluctantly returns to the house to rescue Jen from the pit, where she too is being buried, but Cain surprises her and Tasers her.
Emma wakes to find herself bound and in front of Cain, who is impressed that she managed to escape.
Emma keeps Cain talking while she cuts her bonds with a hidden knife. She uses Cain’s own Taser on him, before tying him up.
Emma pulls Jen from the pit, where strange plant shoots are growing towards her.
Jen wakes up and is furious. She beats Cain for the whereabouts of the main gate’s key before stabbing him.
Emma and Jen take Cain’s car and try to escape, but before they can open the gate, they are attacked by large roots and vines snaking out from the surrounding woods.
Emma escapes, but Jen is trapped in Cain’s car which is consumed by the roots.
Exhausted, Emma reluctantly returns to the house and sleeps.
She awakens the next day to discover Cain has escaped. Desperate to leave, she takes rope and tries to climb down the cliffs again.
On the way down, roots emerge through the rock face and attack Emma, forcing her to rise and retreat to the house.
Cain surprises Emma while she’s treating her wounds and overpowers her. He takes her to his greenhouse to show her the strange, exotic flowers he keeps there.
Cain forces her to drink a vial of sap he claims to have collected from them.
Emma succumbs to the sap and has a nightmarish trip about being buried in the pit.
When she comes around, Cain tells her the plants beneath the house feed on the women he abducts and buries in the pit.
He tells her that their final experiences are captured in the plant’s sap, which he collects and consumes to relive the thrill of his murders.
Emma is appalled and manages to stab Cain and incapacitate him.
As revenge, she buries him in the pit and leaves him to the plant.
Emma returns to Cain’s car to find the roots have retreated. She attempts to siphon fuel from it and discovers that Jen is injured, but still alive.
Emma pours a trail of fuel along the tree line on either side of the driveway and then attempts to open the main gate.
The roots slither out of the woods to attack, but Emma lights the fuel trail and burns them.
Jen panics and tries to drive through the locked gate without Emma, but the car is flipped over by much larger roots emerging from the woods.
Emma manages to escape, but sees the larger roots kill Jen.
Emma returns to Cain’s greenhouse and soaks it in fuel, preparing to burn all the flowers and plants there.
Cain surprises her.
He’s alive, but half-eaten, having been attacked by the plants.
The two have a stand-off, until Emma torches the plants and Cain knifes her.
Emma crashes through the greenhouse windows to escape the flames inside.
Cain follows and the two continue to fight outside, as the greenhouse burns.
Tremors shake the ground and a huge, fleshy root-mass bursts up through the earth to attack them both.
Emma manages to set the root-mass on fire, but it captures Cain and kills him.
The root-mass pursues Emma across the estate grounds as she tries to escape.
The fuel stored in Cain’s house is ignited by the spreading fire and sets off a huge explosion.
Emma takes refuge in the estate’s swimming pool, as both the house and the root-mass are destroyed in the explosion.
Emma resurfaces to watch everything burn.
The next morning Emma limps away from the smoking ruins of Cain’s house.
She follows a track through the woods to the main road, where she hears sirens approaching.
Another vine root attacks her, but she manages to fight it off.
As the root retreats into the woods, Emma turns to see fire trucks approaching.
Now that she has saved herself, the cavalry arrives.
