Synopsis/Details
Arden Escher was a force of nature within a very select group of the intelligence community. As one of the most effective agents in the history of the CIA, he was renowned for his unparalleled skills and ruthless efficiency. However, a mission gone wrong brought home bloody consequences that gnawed away at his mind, pushing him to the brink of his sanity. To escape the ghosts of his past and protect those he loved, he disappeared to the remote corners of Thailand, where nobody could reach him and nobody could be hurt by him. He spent nearly five years in isolation, trying to bury his past and find some semblance of peace. His exile was shattered when he was awakened to a new and dire threat. Arden's sister, who had been sponsoring a women's school on a trip to Vietnam, disappeared when their ship was hijacked by pirates at port. Now, she was a ghost, lost in the murky waters of international crime. The circumstances demanded an immediate and forceful response, one that only Arden was capable enough—or expendable enough—to deliver. Driven by a fierce determination, Arden followed a twisted trail of information, leaving a path of destruction in his wake. The bottled-up brutality within him found a purpose as he hunted down those responsible, each step bringing him closer to his sister. When he finally located her, the rescue marked just the beginning of a complex web of events that would either piece Arden back together or completely unravel him. As Arden confronts the shadows of his past and the perils of his present, he finds himself entangled in a battle for his soul. In the midst of chaos, he realizes that he is desperately needed by a girl he barely knows, a connection that could either save him or push him further into the abyss. The journey to rescue his sister becomes a pivotal point, challenging Arden to confront his demons and redefine his purpose in a world that has changed him beyond recognition.

The Writer: Heather Maclean

Raised in Lockerbie, Scotland, then the Lake District, I grew up surrounded by literature and beauty. My inclination to travel took me across Europe to Japan and then to the States. There I married, have three kids (not so kiddish now), developed a love of ice hockey, and advanced my education and writing. I hold a doctoral degree in educational technology from Pepperdine University and I have taken many screenwriting classes officially and unofficially through UCLA Extension and CalArts (through my book-writing partner). I consistently receive positive feedback on my work and look forward to advancing my skills and writing career. Go to bio
