Synopsis/Details
INFORMATION:
'Chameleon' deals with fear, loneliness and an unlikely friendship across the generations. With insight, warmth and humour, it questions prejudice and finds strength in our shared humanity.
SYNOPSIS:
Lucy Adams is a homeless teenager with an aggressive streak. High-end fashion is a secret passion, but the reality leaves her angry and frustrated.
Evelyn Tate is a cranky old lady obsessed with flowers, shrubs, fruit and vegetables. For one night only, Lucy helps with the plants in exchange for a bed, hot shower and home-cooked meal.
Trust is an issue and tension simmers beneath the surface. Evelyn admits her own failings, but is concerned about Lucy's future. Lucy is nobody's victim, but appreciates the honesty and makes an emotional connection.
The next day Lucy rises early and steals cash, clothes and jewellery. Before she leaves, Evelyn has a stroke and collapses on the floor. Wracked with guilt, Lucy borrows a phone and calls an ambulance. Too late, a gang of girls grab the loot and beat Lucy senseless.
The weeks pass and Evelyn recovers at home. In the spare room, Lucy tends to the plants and makes her own clothes. There's a long way to go, but it's a new beginning and a fresh start.
