Synopsis/Details
Tom Hodges arrives in the frontier town of Martinrock, Washington splattered in blood and with a glowing chunk of a diamond blasted into the base of his skull.
He threatens to kill the saloon owner, Rose, until he is taken to jail. "Rags" the piano player tries to stop him, but Tom wards him off with his gun.
After finally being taken in by the Sheriff, it is discovered by the town doctor and reverend that Tom is alive but without a pulse.
He then tells the tale of how he and his brother, Brian, fell in with the notorious outlaw, Colin "Mongoose" Musgrave, and the Adams Brothers - Bucky and Gavin. He tells them how the five of them journeyed into the heart of the Warner Mine to try and find a huge diamond that they had been tipped off about.
They discover a massive diamond embedded in the wall of the cave and, when it is touched by "Mongoose", it explodes killing everyone in the junction.
Tom comes back to life with help from the embedded diamond chunk in his skull. He runs away after "Mongoose" brings the rest of the gang, including his brother, to life. "Mongoose" is also controlling their actions, lich-like, through the diamonds that have been blasted into them.
Just as Tom finishes the story, his brother, Brian, arrives in town, controlled by "Mongoose." He tries to convince, and control, his brother by manipulating Tom through his diamond.
Brian is surrounded by Rose, "Rags" and the town's Madam, Elizabeth, and ends up killing "Rags" while having Tom almost kill the Sheriff.
He almost succeeds in turning Tom before the reverend shoots the diamond out of Brian's body... returning him to normal and leading to his death.
Tom has the doctor and the madam wake all of the townspeople and help lead them out of Martinrock to the neighboring town of Barnwald.
Tom, Rose, the Sheriff and the Reverend prepare for whomever might come next by setting a trap in the vault of the bank.
"Mongoose" and the Adams Brothers are digging up graves at the nearby cemetery so they can fit the departed with diamonds as well.
The Adams Brothers are sent into town by "Mongoose" so they can retrieve Brian's Diamond and Tom so that he can control all of the Dead in the Cemetery.
The trap is sprung on each of the Adams Brothers and they are defeated.
This all leads to a showdown between "Mongoose" and his group of the Dead vs Tom, Rose, the Sheriff, and the Reverend all on the streets of Martinrock.
