Synopsis/Details
The year is 1986 and we meet Robin. She is a 17-year-old girl from America who has traveled to England with her Teacher and two best friends, Pitney and Finn. The boys are there to experience a foreign country with their friend Robin. She is there to fulfill her dream to experience a weekend (or more) at a Fantasy Live Action Role-playing at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire. Robin speaks to us, seemingly, through the fourth wall, but she has a secret. She is actually talking to her late mother who she is able to see when she is in times of comfort or doing things she knows her mother would love. The three friends go to a local gaming shop for information on the best way to get to the castle. They meet James who goes there almost every weekend and is also one of the game masters. Although Robin is unimpressed by him, Finn thinks he's cute enough and starts to have even more interest in going to the L.A.R.P. with his two friends. Through the travels to the castle we find out that Pitney has always had a deep crush on Robin and Finn has had the same for Pitney. But the two boys have never expressed their affection. When they reach the castle, they meet Paul - The L.A.R.P.'s Founder. The next day, the trio have hilarious adventures within the L.A.R.P. and Robin begins to dream bigger and hopes to create her own scenarios for Paul. Pitney embarrasses himself by professing his love to Robin. Since she does not return it, he turns his attention to Diane - a fierce and funny gamer that he meets during one of the scenarios. Robin and the boys head to a late-night ghost tour of the castle led by Paul. James meets up with them and he and Robin enjoy a lengthy conversation with one another. After their second day of fun, and laughter-filled, adventuring, Robin takes to the walls of the castles to create her scenarios. James encounters her and they spend the night talking with one another which ends with a kiss imitated by Robin. They end their weekend and Robin already misses the place before she arrives at the train station headed back to London. Robin decides to return at the first chance she can get but without the boys. Finn did not have the best time and Pitney's weekend romance with Diane was short-lived. Robin returns to try and accomplish two goals: Have Paul accept one of her scenario designs and spend more time with James and see if their relationship can blossom further. The great news is Paul loves her scenario and will use it! The not-so-great news is that Robin discovers, at lunch with Diane, that James already has a girlfriend. Her name is Courtney and she is playing an elven archer in the big scenario that weekend in which Robin and Diane are participating in. During the "assault" on the castle, Robin is struck down by an arrow, that was shot by Courtney, which had inadvertently lost its rubber tip. The wound is life-threatening and she is rushed to the hospital where she will having a loving conversation with her late mother in the ICU, but ultimately have to make a life or death decision on her own and truly discover how many facets "true love" really has.
