Synopsis/Details
ACT 1: 1940s, Sid is famous as the crash tester who drives new cars into walls to test their safety. To maintain his image as an indestructible hero Sid is always stoic and even when he's alone he suppresses every impulse. He never drives above 20mph, never listens to distracting radio nor overtakes. After his latest crash Sid is approached by Jet, head of a car company. Jet rants about the state of the industry and then proposes Sid a contract for 5 crash tests in which he'd drive his new creation. Sid accepts. The Iron Maiden is revealed to slack-jawed reactions. It's a concept car that looks like a black shell with tires. As Sid drives it he notices many red flags: bi-colored windshield, no side-mirrors and so on. Sid crashes it against a wall. The Maiden is scratchless but Sid limps out of it barely alive. Sid confronts Jet and tells him his is the worst car ever. The enraged Jet points to a loophole in the contract and implies it would be a shame if in the remaining 4 crashes Sid died in some other car. ACT 2: To train his body Sid goes to a forsaken amusement park and reworks an old roller coaster. The ride's owner, Fiera, thinks that Sid just wants to repair her coaster. She tries to help him but he pushes her away. In crash test #2 Jet's artistic sadism shines through. The track leads Sid into a dark tunnel in which he's assaulted by flashing lights and other traps. Sid uses his suspenders as a seat belt and survives. Inspired by Fiera Sid designs a prototype of an airbag to hide in his cap. He uses it in the grotesque 3rd and 4th crash tests. But at the peak of hopefulness something terrible happens: while Sid was away Fiera rode the coaster he reworked. She fell out of the car and died. He feels guilty for letting her think it was safe. We find out that during his career Sid always used his suspenders even knowing that cheating would endanger others. His home is plastered with articles of road fatalities for which he feels guilty. ACT 3: Sid meets Jet for the last crash test wondering which trick awaits him. Jet reveals that he has tampered with the steering column so that it'll impale him. Sid panics and for fear that his inventions will be lost forever pitches them to Jet. The latter criticizes the invention's designs and as Sid rebuts it becomes clear that he's as adverse to criticism as his rival. Jet, pressured by his team, agrees to make this last test a full-frontal crash with him in his beloved Iron Maiden against Sid. The cars collide and Jet, who took Sid's airbag, is saved by it. As it deflates he realizes it's potential and that Sid was right about the Maiden. As the impaled Sid dies he sees that Jet is fine. Sid is happy he at least saved this one life. Some time after we see the Iron Maiden version 2 and it not only has side mirrors... but also seat belts and airbags.

The Writer: Thomas Wagner

Don't have much to say about my life but I love discussing stories. I really like death note and that is my ideal when it comes to plot construction. In all of my scripts you'll find: -Mind games. Tactics. -Strong rivalry between protagonist and antagonist. -Quirky characters. Hope I can intrigue and entertain you! Go to bio
