Synopsis/Details
This is a horror movie but not a slasher type horror movie. I would describe it more as Inside Llewyn Davis meets Jacob's Ladder, but maybe not as terrifying. Also watched Phantom of the Paradise which is a pretty trippy movie from 1974 and that may have influenced the style I had in mind for this story. I tried to limit the curse words and blood, but I think a story like this depends on scenes and an atmosphere like that. There is some violence, graphic sex and bad language. Overall, I guess some could terms this a morality tale, which is why I think the movie Wall Street also had some influence over my writing and vision. I always thought Wall Street was a great story with perfect structure. I was also researching the tale of Faust during this process, although I have not read the actual story of Faust yet. I also wrote 6 original songs for this script, since it is heavily reliant on music. It is not a typical musical but there would be some moments of 3 or 4 minutes of musical performances. I did not include the full details of each musical performance, which is why the script is only about 87 pages. With the addition of the performances and other details involving the songwriting process, I think this would be well fit for a feature film. Gillian Welch was the main inspiration for the idea(s) as well, as the title comes from one of her songs and deals with some of the concepts she is singing/writing about.

The Writer: Raymond Giuffrida

I am a screenwriter and songwriter. I've been working over the last few years on my series idea - The Madman's Daily Unequivocal Comedy, which is my take on shows like The Twilight Zone and Black Mirror. I have 12 episodes written for season one and many ideas for future episodes. Each episode features new characters/settings, although some episodes continue previous storylines. Also have three feature-length screenplays ready to be produced. Go to bio
