Synopsis/Details
This is EP 9 of my original series - The Madman's Daily Unequivocal Comedy, which is my take on shows like Black Mirror and The Twilight Zone. I wanted to challenge myself by not using any dialogue at all. I read the Quiet Place to get inspired a little, but I soon realized how difficult it is to tell a story without dialogue. Instead of just using groans and grunts, which I originally intended, I made up a language for the minimal dialogue in this screenplay. There is some regular dialogue in the VISION scenes, but the majority of the screenplay contains very little dialogue. I also watched Apocalypto to gain some inspiration. This was one of the early ideas I had for this series. I originally wanted to recreate the caveman scenes from 2001 A Space Odyssey. I thought it would be cool to just expand on that short scene and build on those themes. Other notes --- As I began to outline this story, it became more influenced by movies like Planet of the Apes. The themes of this episode connect to the overall mood and voice of this entire series. This is also the first episode that really incorporates the Black Mirror type of universal connection. A lot of characters and symbolism in this episode come directly from other episodes in this series. Although this series is not connected by episodes, there is going to be some overlapping characters, themes and plot lines. I am discovering while I write each episode that maybe the entire first season is heading somewhere. Something major to tie everything together somehow. You can still enjoy and understand the story even if you did not read any of the other episodes.
