Synopsis/Details
A feel good family Christmas movie with a touch of fairy dust and a little fairy magic!
Daniel, a grieving widower is a successful businessman, living with his 10 year old daughter, Maddie, in a Manhattan penthouse. Every year Maddie went with her mother to buy a new fairy for the Christmas tree.2 years after her mother's death, she wants to carry on the tradition with her father. He is as usual, too busy, in the middle of an important deal with a company called, 'Blane Enterprises,' who have shopping malls. They plan together to build a revolutionary mall, but it entails chopping down green land in New Jersey.
Maddie manages to take Daniel fairy shopping a week before Christmas, and picks an unusual fairy in a box that catches her eye. She almost looks 'real', and she is! She reveals herself only to Maddie and her mission, to save their forest from being developed by Maddie's dad and Samuel Blane. Among protestors is Mel, who causes problems and delays the build, with Maddie's help. Hope, named by Maddie, visits the city one night, does some fairy magic not knowing she did on Blane's son, Wyatt. They have adventures sabotaging the wood cutters, but Samuel is ruthless and despite promising to save trees and replant, he starts cutting them down. Meanwhile, Maddie is blamed for Hope's naughty actions and Mel is banned from seeing her as a bad infuence. Hope, the fairy, reveals herself to Mel and Kimi, Maddie's aunt, to help in the fight.
After Wyatt and Daniel find out Samuel lied about saving trees, he makes a deal with his dad. If they find an alternative site within budget, he will change the plan and save the forest, but he lies again.
Feeling bad, Daniel invites Mel to xmas dinner, and they fall in love. They do find an abandoned hotel for auction but it is on the day of demolision, so they race against the clock, spending all the budget, almost failing. Meanwhile Samuel doesn't keep his promise and brings in the big machinery on the deadline day. Fairy sabotage holds them off, until Daniel bids with his own money and they win the bid and buy the hotel site. They race back to the forest and save it, and Hope uses her magic to give Samuel a heart and care.
She has a deal with Maddie and granted her a wish at the beginning, and her wish is to say goodbye to her mom as she didn't before she dies.
she says goodbye to Maddie and the city, and that night, both Daniel and Maddie see her once again. Daniel finally believes in fairies when he sees Maddie had been given her mother's necklace by none other than her dead mother. The story ends when Daniel checks his fridge for breakfast and Hope has ransacked it for food.
He shouts to Maddie, and Mel and Maddie both shout back, 'It was Hope!'
