Synopsis/Details
"Family Ties" is inspired by actual events that took place between the years 1997-2000. Hours after her senior prom, Elana Jurrjens is told by a psychic that she will die on the night of her 21st birthday. As the year's pass, Elana becomes obsessed with the idea of her death and is all but prepared to meet her maker. Friends and family try to convince her otherwise but just as the medium had predicted, Elana is found hanged from a ceiling fan in her dorm room on the exact date specified. Her best friend, Lindsey, refuses to believe Elana would take her own life. Months later, Elana’s spirit appears to her best friend and declares she was indeed murdered, and that she must find someone to help her soul rest in peace. Without any leads or evidence, Lindsey leaves her hometown to start a-new. Now living in Los Angeles, Lindsey comes in contact with Cam, a brilliant former police officer that has lost his way after a horrific family tragedy. Believing she can give Cam a second chance he needs, yet doesn't realize or want, Lindsey shares the tale of her deceased friend. Reluctant at first, Cam soon takes off to the remote Utah town to uncover the mysterious circumstances that led to Elana’s murder. Led by the spirit of Elana, who appears to him through vivid drawings he sketches while sleeping, Cam is soon hot on the trail of a police department coverup. Unfortunately, Cam’s chameleon-like skills are no match for Elana’s killers. The disappearance of Cam brings about his older brother, Max, an astute FBI agent. Max pieces together evidence left behind by his other and soon uncovers the true identities of those still at large. However, with every minute that passes, the likelihood of finding Cam alive diminishes. Max must use every ounce of mental and physical endurance to save his brother while at the same time bringing justice to a lawless town so that Elana’s spirit may finally rest in peace.

The Writer: Mike Calendrillo

At the age of three, Mike Calendrillo first appeared on stage during his mother's (Jean Marie) one-woman show. This is where Mike first discovered his love for performing. As a teenager, Mike continued to hone his craft when he had the privilege to learn the fundamentals of acting and screenwriting from Michael Coppola, nephew of Francis Ford Coppola. Here, Mike picked up the nuances and subtleties that go into creating memorable pieces of art. After high school, as part of the music group J2, Mike and his sister L'ren, signed a record deal and toured the country, singing their very own brand of pop/r&b music — opening for the likes of Lenny Kravitz, JC Chasez, and Nick Cannon.
