Synopsis/Details:

Scibby, a successful bond trader tries to please people but those closest to him are constantly trying to part him from his money. Desperate to boost his earnings, he is persuaded to join an illicit bond trading racket code named “Utreco” run by his capricious stepbrother Harvey and his psychopathic colleague Noah Shapiro.

The scheme is hugely successful but following the sudden death of Harvey’s son, he suffers extreme bouts of depression and is unable to work. Noah Shapiro demands more and more money to fund his palatial sea-side mansion under construction in Israel. With Harvey and Noah Shapiro demanding the lion’s share of the take – Scibby sees the writing on the wall and takes a desperate gamble with syndicate’s money which ends up losing millions.

Unable to repay the Utreco syndicate, and with death threats hanging over him, Scibby is forced on the run. Meanwhile, his ex-wife has brought legal action against him for non-payment of alimony. If Scibby returns home to Switzerland, he will be arrested, if he returns to the UK, violent retribution awaits. Unable to go the authorities for fear of tipping off the syndicate, his only hope is a speculative investment made years before might give him a way out......

Based on actual events, Fraudmeisters is a gripping true story of limitless greed and unbridled excess which exposes how a group of traders swindled their employers, some of the world’s most prestigious investment banks, out of millions of dollars, laundering the proceeds though the major financial centres of the world.

Most shocking of all is that the Utreco syndicate continues to this day, going undetected at some of the most eminent financial institutions in the City and on Wall Street.
