Synopsis/Details
In the wake of the suspicious death of a town pillar in the small quiet town of Fairfax, OK, newly surrogate mother-to-be EMMA accepts a job to help the widower GRABER around his house. Graber gives Emma free reign of the house in order to accomplish all of her chores, but one room is off limits; his deceased wife's room. Even though her routine takes her by the room every day, Emma doesn't have any second thoughts about obeying Graber's room restriction. But her outlook changes when Sheriff's deputy BILLY accuses Graber for the tragic disappearance of Graber's niece, Wendy, whom Emma replaced. After Billy shares his suspicions toward Graber, he leaves Emma to stir in paranoia as she goes about her daily chores. On a hunting trip with Graber, Emma learns that Graber has bad blood with Billy because Billy ruined his family by not letting go of his belief that Graber killed Mrs. Graber. Emma tries her best to ignore Billy's suggestions and trust Graber once again, but when Graber leaves the house to attend a board meeting for his Beef Jerky business, Emma caves in and finally enters the forbidden room. Graber returns home early and catches her red handed, aggressively grabs her, and causes her to fall on her stomach. Fearing for her life, Emma steals Graber's car and tries to leave town, but she can’t get out fast enough as Billy pulls her over and convinces her to stay in town. Billy consuls the vulnerable Emma and they wind up having a one-night-stand in his apartment. The next day, Graber apologizes, but reaffirms his rule as he shows Emma around the forbidden room, and then locks the room now that his trust has been broken. After the way Graber treated her the other night, Emma can't quite shake the feeling that there's more to him than he shares. Emma knows she's in trouble as her hasty romantic night with Deputy Billy continues to linger when he drunkenly tries to advance their romance and his Ex, KRISTEN, continually harasses her, and nearly runs her over. Graber finally steps in and threaten’s Billy’s ex to get off his property. Emma's paranoia builds as Graber's tendencies leave her to believe he killed his wife and Wendy. Graber begins to suspect Emma is up to something as he follows her to a meeting with Billy to discuss her theories on Graber’s deeds. After returning home, Emma discovers Kristen strangled in a car on their property, Emma rushes to the house and calls Billy, but when Billy escorts Emma back to the crime scene, the car is gone and there is no sign of any murder. As Billy leaves Emma to question her sanity and her eyes, she spots Graber's orange hunting cap and knows for a certainty that Graber is the murderer. Soon after, Emma learns that her baby didn't survive the fall back in the locked room. Now, anger boils inside her as she blames Graber for not only murdering Wendy and Kristen, but also striking the life from her unborn child. She goes to Billy for help to convict him, but when Billy comes to the house he's not after Graber. Emma is interrogated by Billy and another deputy as they accuse her for the alleged murder of Kristen, who hasn't been seen in days. Now that Billy seems to be against her, Emma sets out to seek revenge on Graber for her lost baby. She attempts to lock him in the freezer and poisons his meals with pesticide, but both attempts fail. Billy corners Emma in a restroom and explains his diversion tactics for turning the law on her, which in turn will make Graber feel like he's no longer on the radar and might make a mistake. Emma, unimpressed with his tactics, sleeps with Billy again and snatches his extra sidearm for her own protection. Graber asks Emma to drive him to an undisclosed location. She nervously drives them to a cop car where Billy and some deputies stand waiting. Watching Graber and Billy have a fist fight just strengthens her conviction that Graber murdered Wendy and Kristen. Since her attempt to poison Graber wound up in the trash, she finds a new opportunity when she hears Graber in the forbidden room. She walks up to the door and draws Billy's gun, but before Graber can turn around, Kristen's brother leaps out of the broom closet causing him to collapse from a heart attack. At the hospital, Emma is forced to face reality as the doctor explains her situation. Not only has Emma never been pregnant, but her surrogate family was a delusion brought on by her bipolar disorder going untreated. The doctor informs her to take her Bipolar medication before her episodes gets someone killed. Emma can't believe her ears and promptly leaves town, humiliated. Six weeks later, Emma returns to find a healthy Graber with a new housekeeper. Emma apologize for the way she acted in the past and almost shooting him, and they get along again like their trust had never been severed. As she leaves for good, she realizes she forgot to return his hat and has the driver return to the house. Emma searches the grounds for Graber, but can't find him, or the new housekeeper, until she reaches the forbidden room. She pushes the door open to find Graber shot dead and propped against the wall. As Emma flees from the property, she hears screams of the new housekeeper and runs into someone she never thought she'd see again; Wendy. Wendy, alive and well, warns Emma of Billy and tells her how she's been locked away by Billy until she only recently just escaped. Wendy drives Emma away, but they are forced to stop when the tire bursts from a shotgun blast, followed by the shattering of the back window. The two are chased deep into the woods and seek cover, then suddenly Emma is knocked out. Emma awakes to find herself on the porch swing being tied up by Billy and Wendy. The two reveal their diabolical plan and Billy shoots Wendy dead. Billy explains the true heroic intention behind his murder spree, and he points out that Emma is the last loose end. Once she's dead, all the three murders can be tied together and point to Emma being the killer. Emma kicks Billy into the porch swing, and thanks to the aged porch beams, the rope is freed and she's able to run away and seek shelter in the meat slaughter shed. Billy finds her, but now that her head is clear thanks to her medication, she's able to think clearly and get the upper hand. In a sadistic revenge plot, she stages the murder scene, along with suicide note, to look like Billy had committed suicide by preforming an autoerotic affixation with straps attached to the bandsaw after killing Graber, Graber's wife, Kristen, and Wendy. The Writer: Austyn Shull

Adam and I are both from Kansas, and we have been writing together for nearly 2 decades. We both started by writing comedy features back in high school. When I submitted my first screenplay (a Scary Movie style stupid movie, named Stupid Movie) to my creative writing teacher, he introduced to me the kid who did the same thing the year before, and it turned out that kid was Adam, who was actually one of my older brother's good friends. We shared our completed projects with each other, and eventually we teamed and wrote together. When Adam was working in Los Angeles, he got me a job doing remote transcription for a reality show ("Operation Repo"). Since the showrunner was so happy with my… Go to bio
