Synopsis/Details
"Gone" introduces Yahir, a young man volunteering for a perilous, one-way space mission. He's disillusioned with his mundane life, a dead-end job, and a recent breakup with his ex, Riley, who cheated on him with his boss. Despite the mission's suicidal implications, Yahir sees it as an escape and a chance to make a difference. He rejects his father's attempts to reconcile before the launch, still harboring resentment from his father's own past abandonment. Two years later, Yahir, now an astronaut, is set to embark on a journey to a distant galaxy aboard the "Osiris" with his crewmates, Priya and Nathan. Before their departure, Nathan reveals his personal motivation for the mission: fulfilling a lifelong dream of space exploration, inspired by his deceased father. The mission takes an unexpected turn when their AI, G.H.O.S.T., discovers a wormhole, offering a shortcut but with a high risk of failure. Yahir, against his crew's apprehension, decides to take the risk. During their journey, the ship is attacked by alien swarm ships. To escape, Nathan sacrifices himself in the generator room to manually activate an emergency cool-down, allowing the ship to jump into a wormhole. However, the jump sends Yahir and Priya far into the future, where Earth has been destroyed by a black hole. They discover that the wormhole also functions as a "time flux," allowing them to observe different timelines within the black hole's jet stream. Yahir and Priya realize they are "ghosts" in time, able to re-enter their past at a chosen "starting point" to create a new future. Yahir confronts his past with his father, ultimately forgiving him and understanding his struggles. Priya, too, confronts her past, including her mother's drug addiction and suicide. After a desperate struggle to save Priya from her past, Yahir and Priya are transported back to a new "present." The story concludes with Yahir at the recruiting office, but this time, he declines the space mission. He then encounters Priya and Nathan at a bus stop, seemingly for the first time in this new timeline. They share a moment of unspoken understanding, choosing to embrace a simpler, happier future, free from the burdens of their past.
