Synopsis/Details
Jocky Wilson came out of the womb and shook hands with hard times. Orphaned as a child, uneducated and unskilled, Jocky takes refuge from his dreary life in the local pub. It is here that his one special talent is truly appreciated: he can play darts. And the more he drinks, the better he plays. With life outside the pub getting more and more difficult, Jocky's prospects take a turn when a talent scout from the British Darts Organization offers him an opportunity at the big time. With only his long-suffering wife, a lifelong friend from the orphanage and the lads at the Lister Pub in his corner, Jocky sets out to prove he belongs. But the obstacles to be overcome are considerable, not the least of which is John Mason, the grim world champion considered by many to be the greatest player in the history of the game. Suspended for a drunken incident just as his fortunes and popularity are on the upswing, Jocky is thrown back into the hard-scrabble life he knew before. As his life circles the drain, he is unexpectedly given one more chance by his wife. Now having to deal with a ban on drinking during competition, Jocky struggles toward an epic showdown with Mason, putting his marriage and friendships on the line. As he faces his biggest challenge in darts, Jocky must also decide the price he's willing to pay to prove himself.
