Synopsis/Details
DREXAL JAMES, nicknamed DREXX, is a twenty year old, slow-witted, dorky, glasses wearing rich black kid from Beverly Hills, who like so many rich kids, wants to do something entirely different with his life from what his parents have planned. While still living at home in his parent's rich digs "on their dime", he rebelliously continues to hone his weak skills as a Wanna-Be-Rapper while going to a topnotch college to be a lawyer. Two of his so-called close friends, drummer BILLY, and guitar/bassist nicknamed TIMESLOT, have for a long time now, pretended to be his friend while encouraging his desire to be a rapper in efforts to continue to get money and gifts from him. Then one day by happenstance, they both get to witness for the first time ever, him picking up a guitar at a local music store, and like magic start to amazingly play a Hendrix song that he heard only once on the radio. Although he's never even heard of Jimi Hendrix before, or played a guitar, he's able to play the song note for note, merely based on, "I thought the song was cool." Right away the wheels start turning with his phony musician friends as they figure out a way to use his freakish skill to further their own hunger to make it big. Going with a combination of hip hop/rock/funk, the plan starts to work, until a talent scout at one of their club gigs catches Drexx's now dead-on playing, singing, and look that's just like Hendrix. To the dismay of his band mates, the Scout persuades only Drexx to join his world renown traveling troupe of famous rock and soul imitators. As one thing always leads to another, Hollywood soon catches wind of Drexx, and wants him to audition for an up coming bio pic of the life of Jimi Hendrix. Although he has to compete against several others for the role, he eerily knocks it out the park. Then who would of guessed. He faces the only other contender for the role that the Producers also like...It's the white replacement Guitarist his angry ex-band mates picked up, who although he's white, he too looks like a young Hendrix, is left-handed, and plays and sounds just like the man...Who will get the role???...
