Synopsis/Details
The feature starts with a teenager named Bear, at home with his family. Dad’s watching wrestling and mom comes in with a failed pregnancy test. The next day Bear is on a school field trip to coal mines. This is where Nick, Jessica, Karla and Arlow are introduced. Nick chisels at a wall within the mines to take home a piece in order to impress his dad. Bear advises against it, but as Nick chisels; pieces of the wall crumble. Each of the kids pick up a “red rock” and their adventure begins. They soon find out; if your hands are moist or if you touch water and also touch the red rock; you can see interdimensional beings. These include spiders the size of buildings and an octopus in the sky the size of an airplane. These beings begin to cause tsunamis, tornados and other “natural disasters” all over the world. The kids are freaked out by what they see and the planet is in trouble!
That night Bear goes to a live wrestling event with his dad. Thanks to the red rock Bear discovers that one of the wrestlers is not a human in a mask playing a role; Harvey Major is in fact a Minotaur. Major realises he’s been found out and manages to get to Bear later on. His mission is to collect the red rocks and return them to the mines. Obstacles a plenty as Bear and Harvey go knocking on the other 4 teenagers’ doors. Eventually Harvey and the kids all go to the mining site only to find it’s no longer there. Then, Mother Nature rises out of the ground – a terrifying dragon. It’s revealed that Harvey has been defending humanity against Mother Nature for decades and this time Mother Nature says that she is inclined to allow the creatures to be the next evolution of beings on Earth. Harvey argues for the humans and Mother Nature gives the kids a chance: they have to work together to provide arguments of how they will increase awareness and respect for the environment as they get older. The kids find this a mission in and of itself as they barely get along. More conflict!
The kids put forward their cases and Mother Nature decides to challenge them to keep their promises – she takes the burden of defending Earth away from Harvey and puts it onto the kids, tasking them to defend the planet’s naturality for the next fifty years. She provides them with dragons to live within their red rocks – the dragon stones must be protected (potential for a sequel).
Harvey Major has done his time. Bear however negotiates for Harvey’s soul, asking that Harvey be allowed a normal life as a human – if his parents can get pregnant. Mother Nature obliges, but Harvey officially goes out his way: a Buried Alive match at the next big wrestling event. With that, Mother Nature swallows him into the ground. The kids grow to forge promising careers, each of them making a positive difference to the world, all the while maintaining their secret dragon stones.
This feature would be an excellent watch for parents that want to present their children with environmental values. The film would give teens something to think about when it comes to their priorities. And finally it hits the mark for entertainment, adventure and thought-provoking material. My aspirations include making people feel and making people think because of my stories. By the end of this one, I hope people appreciate the beauty of Mother Nature.
