Synopsis/Details
My Belated Valentine tells the story of Kenny Silver, a young man who takes a one-day gig delivering flowers on Valentine's Day. Valentine's Day is a delicate subject for Kenny as he is still haunted by the memory of his long lost love Bonnie Nelson. Bonnie is the girl Kenny admired from afar for years before finally mustering the courage to send her a heartfelt poem included in a Valentine card. She apparently fell off the face of the Earth after Kenny sent his card and he hasn't seen or heard from her in the 5 years since. Over the course of the day, Kenny discovers the local mailman has been arrested for hoarding mail over the past 6 years. The postal service vows to deliver all of the hoarded mail. Is it possible that Bonnie never received Kenny's poem? And will his poetic masterpiece finally reach her after 5 years? And now the twist.... It turns out Kenny's poem was delivered to Bonnie 5 years ago. Unfortunately, Bonnie's response to Kenny in a belated Valentine was part of the hoarded mail. When Kenny arrives home after his long chaotic day, he finds Bonnie's belated Valentine resting atop a large stack of dated mail delivered that afternoon. When he learns that she's working at the family restaurant 300 miles away, Kenny floors it on his last journey of the day determined to see his true love before Valentine's Day is over.

The Writer: James Ziolkowski

Movies have always been a big part of my life. My junior high school years were a blur of root beer, junior mints, and 2nd run movies at the Des Plaines theatre. 50-cent Tuesdays were a dream come true for a kid growing up without cable TV . I would eventually go on to manage a movie theatre for 4 years that was one of the last in the Chicagoland area to play 35mm prints. I spent the majority of my time there building prints, trailer packs, and threading the old-school projectors. I had already written numerous screenplays and won awards in various genres by the time I started working at the theatre. But it kind of became my unofficial film school as I lived, breathed, and slept movies… Go to bio
