Synopsis/Details
His first day taking over the small-town police force, the murder of a one-legged prostitute leads this newly-widowed single-parent to unearth an unsolved crime... long since left cold. Jed, following his wife's cancer death, has left the Dallas police department to move north to a small town where he will be taking the job of Chief of the police force there. Jed's teen-aged daughter deserves more of his time and attention, and he hopes that the quiet community will allow him to do his job and be the father that Danni needs him to be. After a warm welcome from his old friend who is retiring and handing the job off to Jed, Jed heads out into the field with Rogers. Rogers is a no-nonsense Detective and is on her way to investigate what is reported to be a suicide. When Rogers and Jed arrive at the hotel, where Heather Silven (a local paraplegic prostitute and known drug abuser) was found, it is obvious that this was not a suicide. It was a murder. As Jed works with Rogers as she begins to dig into this murder case, he finds out that Heather Silven is the center of a horrendous unsolved crime that happened in her High School days. We flashback to see the murder of Heather Silven's boyfriend and her subsequent abduction. Heather is held captive, drugged and abused in a remote shed in the snowy woods. Due to the shutting down of the local Indian Reservation School, kids have recently been bused from the Reservation and placed into the local town's school system. Three of these new students are assumed guilty of the heinous crime. One of the boys is attacked by a lynch mob and permanently disabled. The other two are arrested, but they are murdered in jail while awaiting trial. Rogers and Jed continue to investigate these things, and the focus keeps pointing to some sort of involvement of the town's most prominent and powerful family. The pilot ends as Rogers places one of these powerful people under arrest, and we anxiously await the next episode to see what happens next.
